How To Start Dealing With Mental Health
Mental Health, the secret that everybody knows about. If you are someone who suffers with mental health… I hope this post can help you start dealing with your mental health.
So yesterday was world mental health awareness day and it really got me wondering about all of those out there dealing with mental health in silence. We all know theres no magic cure for mental health but there are definitely ways we can channel it to make it less of a burden on our lives.
First of all, I think the worst way you can deal with mental health is suffering in silence. Letting that anxiety build up can only lead to an explosion which is no good for you or anybody else. Whilst not everybody will understand or have any idea what you go through, there are plenty other people who know the pain.
Whether its friends who have been through it too or you find a website/group/community where others understand. Don’t bottle it all up, it will end badly, trust me. It’s time to start Dealing With Mental Health
Dealing With Mental Health
My favourite way to deal with mental health is through creativity and expression. Theres something about art that favours those who have these deep thoughts we carry. Whether it’s music, painting, dance, comedy, there are positive ways to vent and let out.
Look at me for example, non constructively venting my angst had me sitting in jail. Nowadays I stay so busy, creating so much that I don’t get the time or chance to be non constructive.
Yes I was in prison for four years of my life, of course that took it’s toll on my mental health but I used it as an opportunity. I spent my time discovering who I really am, I did a lot of writing, wrote a bunch of songs. I think it would have been a completely different experience and I would have gone a completely different path to this had i not been constructive in there.
It’s not like I don’t think about it still, that it didn’t have any negative effect on me or that I didn’t want to kick off about it but I chose to see it as the opportunity I made it be.
Sometimes you just have to stop just thinking about stuff and do something about it. It’s easy to just kick off when life seems like its going nowhere, it’s rebellion. It’s more difficult to fight through it but at least then you see a reward, you get to make progress out of that space
Another great example of someone who vents their issues in a constructive way is Madhat Mcgore
“Could you get up to face your day with tension, bad vibes and the need for aggression” is ridiculously relatable. We all know that feeling right?
The line that I feel really hammers the point home is: “See I build on all the pain that i’ve been through, I take it and I use it as a fuel that I need to.”
He sums it up perfectly in that line. We’re all experiencing pain, but it shouldn’t be something that holds us back. We need to use that aggression and pain as fuel, it doesn’t need to be the breaking of us when it can be the making of us!
With accolades such as appearing on Charlie Sloth’s Fire In The Booth, appearing in The Guardian… He’s a living testament that the struggle doesn’t make us less of a person. If anything it gives us a strength and cope-ability that someone who doesn’t face it can’t possess.

Mental health shouldn’t make you any less capable, even if we look on the more extreme end of mental health and look at autism.
Autism often creates geniuses, from the socially awkward world chess champions to the master pianists that have no control whatsoever over their emotions. We all have the opportunity everyday to be constructive.
I hope this post can somehow encourage you in Dealing With Mental Health.
How To Take Care Of Your Mental Health
A lot of it is easier said than done and I can understand that. Just if you don’t want to suffer anymore, stay mentally busy. Don’t give yourself the time and space to disappear into that space.
Take care of your mental health, begin to distance yourself from people and places that trigger it negatively. Start working on a new life where it doesn’t define, where you can use it to fuel your ambitions.
It’s not going to happen overnight but with patience and determination you can turn your life in a 180. I believe you can do it, even if you don’t.
I just want to leave you with some quotes that have helped me.
